More Than Just Blue: Medical Scrubs in Full Color

Thursday, February 21, 2019

Color is all around us. Different colors make us happy or feel safe.

While many workplaces have a specific medical scrub color that they use, others allow you to choose the color or pattern that reflects your style and preference.

Here are some of the color scrubs that we offer at Sanibel Scrubs and what some psychologists say about what those colors “mean”…

1. Blue Scrubs

Since it’s in the title of this article, why not start with blue. Blue scrubs are very popular in many healthcare settings. However, not all blues are the same.

At Sanibel Scrubs we have scrub tops and pants in several shades of blue including ceil, navy, carribean, and royal blue. Teal scrubs are also a popular option when looking for a shade of blue.

The color blue is said to bring a feeling of calm or serenity. It is often described as peaceful, tranquil, secure, and orderly.

2. Purple Scrubs and Pink Scrubs

Purple is close to blue on the spectrum, but it can bring a whole different meaning to your medical scrubs.

At Sanibel Scrubs we carry different shades of purple scrubs including blooming violet, wine, and sweet purple. We also carry pink scrubs including purple berry, coral, crimson flower, and hot pink.

Purple is often seen as a royal color. In ancient times the color purple was much harder to create in dyes and therefore was much more costly. Purple is said to represent wealth and wisdom.

Pink is often used as a feminine color, but it is also often associated with qualities such as softness, kindness, nurturance, and compassion.

Both purple and pink are vibrant colors that give off creative and joyful vibes.

3. Green Scrubs

Green is nature’s color. For medical scrubs this could give off a feeling of a more holistic approach. However, green has many more associations with it. Green has long been a symbol of fertility and is also thought to relieve stress and help heal.

At Sanibel Scrubs we carry different shades of green scrubs including hunter green, greenery, and sweet mint.

4. White, Grey, and Black Scrubs

When it comes to neutral colors, white, grey, and black are usually combined, even though they all could have different meanings.

At Sanibel Scrubs we carry scrubs in the color white, pewter, and black.

In different cultures, these colors can have drastically different symbolism. For example, black, which is often associated with mourning was also representative of life and rebirth in ancient Egypt.

Either way, these colors are great for mixing and matching with different patterns and other colors to make an interesting medical wardrobe.

5. Scrubs with Patterns

As we just mentioned, patterns and prints can really help your medical wardrobe stand out. Patterns are also very popular in pediatric centers, as they can be fun and interesting to look at for younger patients.

We carry several affordable patterned tops to choose from that can be combined with our solid scrub pants to create the perfect outfit.
